HOW DO I SPEAK TO A REAL PERSON?
Customer Service/Box Office phone hours are Tuesday-Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. On Sundays when we have a performance, we are open 10:00 p.m.-6:00 p.m.

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?
Whatever you feel comfortable in, as long as it meets the standards of public attire. Most people dress up for evening performances—especially on the weekends—and people tend to dress nicer on opening nights (particularly the season opening).
So really, your outfit is up to you. Want to make a night of it? Go for it! Want to be comfortable in your favorite jeans? Absolutely!
The only thing we do require is a proper facemask to help us keep our audiences, artists and staff safe. This means no air vents or gaiter-style masks. WHAT SAFETY MEASURES ARE IN PLACE DUE TO COVID-19?
Our first priority is to ensure that every audience member has the best and safest experience possible and to protect the health of our performers and staff. Since we practice music, not medicine, our policies follow the mandates and guidance of the LA County Department of Health.
Currently, proof of vaccination or proof of a negative COVID-19 test is not required. Masks are no longer required inside during the performance, but encouraged. The following guidelines will be in effect beginning October 10, 2022 and are subject to change. You can view our current safety protocols here.
CAN I BRING MY KIDS?
We love welcoming everyone to experience the awesomeness of opera. However, since we've found that little tots and long operas don't always mix, we limit the ages for attending our mainstage operas to children 9-17 years. Best of all, we offer half price tickets for this age group. Simply call the Box Office at 213.972.8001.
Since many operas contain adult subject matter, we suggest that parents check the webpage of the opera they are considering attending for any parental advisories, as well as the opera synopsis to make sure it is suitable for their child. Still have questions? You can always call the Box Office at 213.972.8001.
While we love kids, we also need to ensure that everyone enjoys the unique experience of attending an opera, so if you arrive with a young child (under 9) you will not be allowed into the venue. Although you can watch from the lobby, you will likely enjoy the performance better if you leave the little ones at home. CAN I DONATE MY TICKET FOR A TAX DEDUCTION?
Yes, and we'd be happy to help! We are an official 501c3 nonprofit organization. If you are unable to attend an opera, you can donate your ticket back for resale. It's a win/win for both of us: you get a deduction and we get much needed funds to cover our costs.
To donate your tickets, simply call 213.972.8001 or log in to your account. You will receive a receipt for this donation. You may also mail or fax your ticket donation. The value of your tickets will be acknowledged as a charitable contribution after the performance. (This amount will not be applied toward donor benefits.)
Just remember, you need to donate your ticket online, call the Box Office, or tickets need to arrive by mail/fax at least one hour before curtain time on the day of the performance to be considered a donation. Donating your tickets as soon as possible will increase our chances of reselling them to other operagoers.
If you have a ticket to a production that was cancelled due to COVID-19, please consider donating the cost back to support the LA Opera Relief Fund.
CAN I EXCHANGE MY TICKETS? HOW?
You sure can! No-fee exchanges are usually a subscriber perk, but currently, any ticket holder can exchange their tickets free of charge during the 2021/22 Season.
You may exchange your tickets up to 48 hours in advance of a performance online, in person, by phone, fax or email. Emergency exchanges made between 2-48 prior to a curtain can only be completed in person, or by phone. Additional fees, rules and/or restrictions may apply. All exchanges may be subject to a seating price increase.
Ticket exchanges may be made by logging in to your account or by calling the Box Office at 213.972.8001 ext. 0.
HELP—I'VE LOST MY TICKETS!
Did your dog eat your tickets? Did you forget your account password? It happens, and we've got your back. Ticket buyers may call the Box Office 213.972.8001 for the replacement of lost or stolen tickets. We'll either email you a new ticket or hold the tickets for you at Will Call.
DO YOU REFUND TICKETS?
We traditionally only offer refunds for tickets in the event that a performance is canceled. If you aren’t able to attend a performance, please consider donating your tickets to help support us (see details above).
I HAD TICKETS TO A CANCELED PERFORMANCE. WHAT ARE MY OPTIONS?
The following performances from previous seasons were cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic:

- Angel's Bone (May 1 - 3, 2020)
- Pelléas and Mélisande (May 2 - 23, 2020)
- Rodelinda (May 8, 2020)
- The Marriage of Figaro (June 6 - 28, 2020)
- Don Giovanni (January 30 - February 21, 2021)
- Breaking the Waves (February 27 - March 21, 2021)
- Veils for Desire (March 31, 2021)
- Tamerlano (April 30, 2021)
If you had purchased tickets to these performances, the amount paid for your tickets was automatically placed in your LA Opera account for you to use for a future performance. Please check your email for information or contact the Box Office at firstname.lastname@example.org or 213.972.8001 Monday to Saturday, 10am to 6pm.
Please consider donating the cost of your tickets to support The LA Opera Relief Fund, which will provide support for the hundreds of LA Opera artists, artisans and staff whose work and livelihood have been impacted as a result of the COVID-19 outbreak. Ticket donations are fully tax-deductible, as LA Opera is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the greater good. Your generosity is deeply appreciated.

Each season, our pre-show talks are an enormously popular highlight of every performance. You can join us an hour before each opera in Eva and Marc Stern Grand Hall, located on the second floor of the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, or watch below at anytime.
Generously sponsored by the Flora L. Thornton Foundation and the Opera League of Los Angeles, all pre-show talks are free of charge to those attending the performance.
