Soprano Karen Hogle Brown has been a teaching artist with LA Opera Connects since 2003 for programs including Voices for Tolerance, Opera Camp, and In-School Opera. With the Los Angeles Master Chorale, she has taught for the song writing workshop: Voices Within and has performed with their outreach ensemble the LAMC Chamber Singers. She has conducted a number of youth choirs; taught at Pomona College, Cal Poly Pomona, and is currently on faculty at Occidental College; and runs a private voice studio. As a soprano, she has appeared with numerous organizations including the Los Angeles Master Chorale, LA Opera, Pacific Opera Project, Opera San Luis Obispo, Redlands Opera Theatre, Long Beach Opera, Opera a la Carte, OperaWorks and Cabrillo Music Theatre. As a recitalist, she is a winner of the Beverly Hills recital competition and presented world premieres of composer Shawn Kirchner’s music. She is featured on movie soundtracks such as X:men Apocalypse, Frozen, Big Hero 6, Minions, as well as classical recordings with the LA Master Chorale including most recently David Lang’s National Anthems and The Little Match Girl Passion.
