The HBCU Opera Career Comprehensive will prep you with everything you need to jumpstart your career in opera.
Ten extraordinary artists will be selected to participate in a 10-session virtual program, with sessions on one Saturday per month for three hours at a time.
Courses will cover everything you need to know to kickstart your career in opera, whether it’s on stage or behind the scenes. You’ll experience vocal coaching, language training and informative presentations from administrative staff and other industry professionals.
Classes will cover different aspects of the opera world. You will be asked to submit performance videos to discuss during each monthly sessions. Russell Thomas, one of the most sought-after tenors of our time, will be your head voice coach and all-around teacher extraordinaire. Joined by some stellar members of LA Opera artistic and administrative team, he will be there to help you build and refine your vocal skills as you discover the ins and outs of all things opera. Questions and curiosity are always encouraged, and constructive feedback and thoughtful guidance will always be given.
